A Life in Art, Thought and Expression
There are some individuals whose lives cannot be neatly defined by a single title. Sascha “Harti” Hartmann was one of them.
Artist, composer, creative director and thinker, he brought together disciplines that rarely sit side by side - art and psychology, philosophy and music, instinct and intellect. His work was not created to simply be seen or heard, but to be felt, questioned and remembered.
Born in Munich and raised in Ticino, Switzerland, Sascha’s early life was shaped by a rich blend of German and Italian culture. He went on to study at the University of Zurich, where his academic grounding in philosophy and psychology informed a lifelong exploration into human behaviour, belief systems and the nature of consciousness. This depth of thinking became a defining thread throughout his creative work.
Under the name “Harti”, his art evolved into a bold and unmistakable visual language. Vivid, expressive and unapologetically confident, his pieces combined colour, commentary and emotion - often exploring themes of society, identity and perception. His work was not designed to sit quietly on a wall; it demanded attention, conversation and interpretation.
Beyond the canvas, Sascha was equally at home in music and composition, creating soundscapes that carried the same emotional depth and intellectual curiosity as his visual work. Whether through art, music or storytelling, his ability to translate complex ideas into compelling creative expression was rare.
It was this same instinct and certainty that defined his personal life. Sascha met his wife, Dr. Tessa Hartmann CBE, and within six weeks they were engaged, marrying just six months later - a reflection of a partnership built on absolute conviction, creativity and shared vision. Together, they built not only a life, but a family and a business.
As co-founder of Hartmann House, Sascha helped shape an agency grounded in the belief that creativity and strategy should never exist in isolation. His influence remains embedded in the way the business approaches brand psychology, storytelling and the importance of connecting with audiences on a deeper level.
Above all, Sascha was a devoted family man. He shared his gifts generously with his children, nurturing their creativity, musicality and individuality from an early age. Today, that influence lives on through them - each carrying forward a part of his artistic and musical spirit.
His passing was sudden and unexpected, leaving an absence that is profoundly felt by all who knew and worked with him.
He is survived by his wife, Tessa, their four children Valentina, Tallia, Johnnie, Zachary and his parents, Otto B. and Valentina Hartmann.
As a family, we see it as both a responsibility and a privilege to continue his legacy - to carry forward his artistic vision, his music, and the extraordinary body of work he leaves behind. Through Harti, his voice remains present, his ideas continue to resonate, and his creativity lives on.
Because true artists do not leave.
